This Independent Contractor Agreement (“Agreement”) governs the relationship between you (the “Cleaner”) and Tidize (“Tidize”, “we”). By submitting a cleaner application and accepting jobs through Tidize, you agree to these terms.
1. Independent contractor status
You are an independent contractor, not an employee of Tidize. You control your own schedule, decide which jobs to accept, and provide your own supplies and equipment unless otherwise agreed in writing. Tidize does not withhold income taxes, Social Security, or Medicare on your behalf. You are responsible for reporting and paying your own taxes, including self-employment tax.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
- You must pass identity verification before accepting your first job. We use government-issued ID and a selfie comparison (via Stripe Identity).
- You authorize Tidize to run a background check through a consumer reporting agency before approving your account and periodically thereafter. You will receive a separate disclosure and consent before the check is run.
- You must provide a valid IRS Form W-9. Tidize will issue Form 1099-NEC for any tax year in which your platform earnings exceed $600.
3. Insurance
You are responsible for maintaining general liability insurance with coverage of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence. You must provide proof of insurance upon request.
4. Conduct and quality standards
- Arrive at the booked address at the scheduled start time. If you will be late, update status to “On the way” and contact the customer.
- Treat the customer's home, belongings, and pets with care.
- Do not bring unauthorized persons to the job.
- Do not solicit the customer for off-platform work for the duration of your relationship with Tidize plus 12 months.
- Do not share customer contact information with anyone for any purpose other than completing the assigned job.
5. Payment
Tidize collects payment from the customer through Stripe and pays you the booking amount less Tidize's platform fee. Payouts are sent to your Stripe Connect Express account on a rolling schedule (typically within 2 business days of job completion).
6. Liability
You are solely responsible for damage you cause to a customer's property. Tidize is not party to any claim arising from your work and will cooperate with the customer's insurance and your insurance to resolve such claims.
7. Termination
Either party may terminate this Agreement at any time, with or without cause. Tidize may suspend or remove cleaners who violate these terms, receive sustained negative reviews, fail a re-run background check, or whose insurance lapses.
8. Confidentiality
Customer contact information, addresses, and access codes are confidential. You may use them only to complete the assigned job and must not store, share, or otherwise process them outside the Tidize platform.
9. Tax forms
Tidize will issue Form 1099-NEC at year-end for any tax year in which your payments exceed $600. You must keep your W-9 information current.
10. Governing law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, USA.
